Professor Braun received his PhD from Oklahoma State University in 1974, with a dissertation in relativistic quantum theory. Since joining the University of Evansville faculty in 1984, he has been studying the interaction between light and matter, leading research projects in photon correlation studies, holography, phase conjugation, and saturated absorption spectroscopy. Prof. Braun twice chaired the AAPT's national Committee on Undergraduate Education and UE's Faculty Senate. His Physics Study Guide, published by Addison-Wesley, is now in its 3rd Edition. He has given numerous presentations on his research and on various topics in undergraduate physics education.

When not in the classroom or lab, Dr. Braun is an active tennis player and official, having officiated numerous college and professional tennis matches, including the US Open.
Mitch Luman

Mr. Mitch Luman

Adjunct/Physics

As an adjunct instructor for the department, Mr. Luman teaches descriptive astronomy. He is a professional astronomy educator and graduate of The Ohio State University. His professional interests include conducting research on how the public learns through informal science activities and engaging the public in the light pollution awareness. His current projects include conducting community science cafés and the visual observation galaxy clusters with his personal 20-inch telescope.
